On Friday, February 13th we celebrated Valentine's Day with an all-school line-dance in the gym, followed by a party in our classroom. We played Musical Hearts, Pin the Lips on the Frog, and Valentine's Day Bean Bag Toss. The students also had the opportunity to make balloon hats to wear throughout the party. At the end of the day we concluded with cookies and juice. A HUGE thank you to our room moms for helping plan, organize, and lead the activities...you made this celebration extra special!
What an exciting month we had in January! We had a wedding, celebrated the 100th day of school, explored nonfiction texts, and enjoyed the beautiful weather before the big snow storms! Here is a recap of our month: Q and U WeddingWe celebrated the wedding of Q and U on Friday, January 23rd with Mrs. Heusman playing the letter U and Dr. Heimann, our superintendent, playing the letter Q. There was a ceremony followed by cake and dancing. The students rose to the occasion with their festive party wear! They all looked smashing! Prior to the big day, we spent time coming up with gift ideas for the couple, making bow-ties and bows to wear on the big day, and coming up with words that begin with Q and U. Here are a few pictures and a video to help you feel like you were a part of the big day: 100 Days SmarterWe celebrated the 100th day of school on Tuesday, January 27th. We had so much fun making hats, doing 100th day stations, sharing a special snack with 100 items, and completing a creative 100th day art project with the other Kindergarten classes. We all became superheroes for the day! Thank you so much to our families for helping to create the capes! Here are a few pictures from our celebration: Is This Really January?!We enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day outside at the end of January before the snow hit. The students worked with their "Power Tools", their writing partners, to come up with a story to illustrate and write together. This took a lot of teamwork while trying to decide the role each partner would play. We also wrote story problems on the sidewalk to practice our addition and subtraction skills. Star StudentsThe class voted on three new star students in the month of January. Way to go!! (Missing from the picture is JoLee)
